My cable is faulty, what should I do?

You have a 2 year limited warranty, which is often twice as long as you’ll see elsewhere, see details here.

All of our cables are tested shortly after they’ve been assembled, and again just before they go in a box, ready for their new owner. However, in the unlikely event of receiving a faulty item, please click here to email us ASAP (within 14 days to reduce chance of delay).

Why do I need a an EV Charging Cable/Lead?

Electric cars and Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV's) need to be connected to an electrical supply to recharge their batteries. This can either be done with a 3-pin domestic socket (extremely slow) and inefficient if used as a long term solution, or via a dedicated EV Charger, with much higher rates of charging. Where there is not a tethered lead, a cable just like ours, is required.

Can I leave my EV Charging Cable out in the rain/snow?

With our cables, yes you can. When connected/coupled, our cables offer an IP54 rating. In short, our IP54 rated products allow normal operating standards, working efficiency and safely as they are protected against solid objects and splashing of water from any angle.

What is Type 1 and Type 2?

To make things less confusing, the majority of manufacturers and most countries have now narrowed the options to 2 types of plugs: Type 1/type 2, and 1 socket (Type 2).

From the car’s side, a Type 1 has been traditionally for early models such as the older Nissan Leaf, and Mitsubishi Outlander, to name just a couple. Almost every new car on sale today in Europe, and more importantly the UK, will need a “type 2 to type 2” cable. Use our Find a Cable Tool here.

What "Type" is my car?

Use our Find a Cable Tool here. Although, the standard for new vehicles in the EU and UK means you’ll almost certainly require a “type 2 to type 2” cable.

How many Cables do I need?

How long is a piece of string? All needs are different, but here’s some direction. A minimum of one cable is necessary, but we would recommend having a second charging cable just in case anything happens to your primary cable. You may also want one to carry, or have at home as a spare. Would you have a spare charging cable for your mobile phone to avoid the battery going flat when out and about? Most likely!

The cost of a second cable, paired with the convenience of always having one when needed, is a real no brainer to us!

How much does it cost to charge my car?

Generally, less than traditional fuels, although this all hinges on the battery capacity and what your electricity rate is from your supplier.

Example (Estimate) - A Plug-in Hybrid, with a 12kWh battery, twinned with a electricity unit rate of 16p per kWh, would amount to a total of 12 x 0.16 = £1.92.

A Tesla with a large battery however, would be 100 (battery capacity in kWh) x 0.16 (electricity rate example) = £16.00. Remember, charging to 100% from 50% would be half, it’s unlikely you’d plug in from a completely flat battery at 0%.
